Extended Warranty Clarification

Hi All,

Having read this board am I correct in saying that you can take a Porsche that is currently out of warranty pay a fee £80? for them to check the car and then an additonal £700 odd to extend the warranty even if the original warranty has lapsed.

Will any Porsche dealer do this?

Currently considering a 996 at an independant dealer (not a Porsche Specialist) it would make sense to get it down to Porsche before delivery have the check done and then get the warranty sorted thus getting a car with a full Porsche Warranty for a year.

Thanks
Uppy

As I understand it, they will give you a list of things which need to be done before the warranty can be taken out. That might be something trivial or it might be something substantial like "replace the engine". The message is clear, take out the extended warranty before the manufacturer's warranty expires.

Yes, providing the car has a FPMDSH. I believe any OPC will do this, again depending on the history.

I've just bought a warranty (£720) approx 6 months after my original 2 year warranty expired but because the car has been serviced at my local OPC, I didn't have to pay the inspection fee which I think is about £120. Like servicing charges however, this may vary between dealerships - oh and don't forget to ask about any PCGB Member discount!

The warranty also includes full 'Porsche Assist' breakdown recovery.

Hope this helps.

Yep, it's about £120 for the inspection though

Get the inspection done during the warranty period from the independent and then if there's anything found, then they can take the responsibility to get it sorted.

Worked for me and now under the Porsche warranty scheme.
