Extended warranty moaning again

I just booked my car in for a couple of "warranty faults" at Porsche Guildford only to be told that my extended warranty had expired.

After speaking to Reading, they admitted they "forgot" to send me a renewal, however I could pay over the phone as long as I agreed to the vastly inflated price they're charging. Being completely cornered and knowing sods laws says that my engine will explode if I don't renew, I did it on the spot.

Phoned back Guildford and booked my car in for early Jan only to be told that the two faults - a headlamp washer that doesn't pop up and a sticky reverse gear "are most likely not covered by the warranty". I really do get frustrated at the amount of items NOT covered by the Porsche extended warranty scheme []

Every other warranty I have had (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc) has been exactly that - no "wear and tear" coverage.

However so far I've had a water bottle replacement (that wears out ?), a faulty headlamp washer, and a gearbox cable (could be argued as w&t but seems picky).

I went back to Porsche Reading and they confirmed that these are not covered and this is not at the discretion of the OPC

I had them telling me that my failed horn wasn't even covered due to wear and tear ! My car was only just over the two year mark then with probably less than ten whole toots... - I wasn't accepting any of it and after they made a couple of phone calls to get confirmation they eventually backed down and agreed to remove the item from my bill.
depending on where you go I sometimes feel the stock answer is 'that it isn't covered'....

The plastic expansion tank is not covered apparently.
Even if it cracks the day after the factory warranty expires.
How on earth can that be deemed to be wear and tear; it is not an uncommon failure therefore there must be an inherent defect with it.[&:]

Agree - I thought everyone says the OPC warrantee is 'the same as you get on a new car' - if so, surely an expansion tank should be covered - how does that 'wear out' ??

Just as a note to amuse you.. Our BMW had the washer bottle pack up and the water would not go onto the screen So I told BMW it is fairly urgent as it's winter and techinaly the car was not road worthy as the washers couldn't be used. they were very flipent and said don't be silly ...[] boy I gave him a constructive mouth full as I have been pulled over years ago and they did a spot check on my mates van and the washer bottle was empty and they wanted to report me lucky I had a bottle of water I just filled it up there and then but if Ididn't have that I was going to be reported.. Anyway I digress the BMW dealer when Jo collected the car Charged Her for a NEW washer pump!! it was not covered under the wantee , they stated that WE had used NON BMW Screen wash......!!!!! how petty was that. and this had broken the pump...

Anyway I told Jo to stay there and not pay the bill I bought all the paper work with me to the dealer and showed them that on each and every SERVICE they do there is a MISC charge for washer bottle fluid top up!!!!!!! Which THEY DID with THERE FLUID.... Jo does not touch the car and I have never topped it up I don't need to BMW do it...

So it just shows Dealers ( I HATE DEALERS I REALLY DO!!!!!!! ) are all the same pic and chose what is and what is not covered.. and where ever they can CHARGE!!!

Don't forget dealers don't need to find customers, customers have to find them!! Where as independants have to work and earn customers

Just to clarify on the point above about Dealers, my gripes were confirmed by Porsche Reading (that the headlamp washers are not covered under warranty).

It's not just dealers but the manufacturers too.
