Extended Warrenty

Hi Guys,

My 997 is coming to the end of its Porsche Warranty, the OPC have contacted me to renew it.
However I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any other independent warranties / policies, and how they compare.

The one thing I find hard to swallow is the annual cost of the Porsche Approved Policy is more than double my vehicle insurance.

Any help or advice greatly received as always.

totally agree
thats why i went the indi way rather earlier than usual-jonas at jzmachtech has done the first service and i have every confidence in him- if i were planning NOT to keep the car for a long time then i prob wouldve extended the warranty (for resale values)but as it is i`ll put the cost away for poss future repairs!
havent considered other warranties as advice was very unenthusiastic!

The porsche warranty includes full breakdown cover across most of Europe and recovery home - a similar level of cover from RAC would cost you around £130, so you need to figure that into an aftermarket warranty when comparing costs.

I agree its a bit of a lump in the throat cost wise, my 987 has only done about 300 miles since renewing the warranty in September ! However i consider it piece of mind (even though it doesn't cover everything).

Thanks guys for your comments. [:D]

The thing for me is that I haven't had to pay out for an Extended Warranty yet, all my other cars I sold or PX before it was due, However I plan on keeping this one for a while as we have just had our 3rd child (wallets looking a bit sorry for it's self).[]

dyllan, what indi warranty did you opt for?

I agree the added RAC recovery is a bonus, but can be bought separately, Indecently I bought a 12mth old Honda for my wife at xmas which came with RAC cover for as long as we own the car.

One other thing that concerns me about not taking the warranty is the level of goodwill from the dealer, recently I took the car in as the front bushes were creaking, they charged me £60 to regrease them. When in the past I 've had far more done on cars with other manufactures at no charge.

I think I have almost talked myself in to taking the Official Warranty, I just wanted to check out other peoples experiences.
