Extending Warranty

My 991 is a December 2011 car and, as such, I can only have Porsche extended warranty until the end of 2024, because Porsche will not warranty a car for a part year so the eleven and a half months of 2025 are out. Can anyone recommend a warranty insurer for my future years please?

I'm a great fan of Porsche's extended warranty but got refused on my Macan because it had a non-OEM towbar fitted (the very same tow bar that had been passed for warranty extension on the previous Macan...).

I shopped around and went with WarrantyWise. Found that you could haggle a bit on the phone to end up at a reasonable premium. I was mindful that a lot of people say that all of the aftermarket warranty firms are a scandalous waste of time and money; my experience has been a mix of good and bad. I had a wheel bearing go (very unusual) and it was approved by WarrantyWise within 24 hours for replacement. I then had a leak from the timing chain cover (a common Macan problem for 2018 cars, apparently) caused by a design deficiency in the OE cover retaining bolts and WarrantyWise would not pay for that repair because "a bolt is not on our list of mechanical parts". I went through their appeals process but they weren't for turning.

So mixed results. In my mind, I tend to regard it as disaster cover, in the case of the engine going pop or the PDK expiring. Helps me to sleep better!

Thank you James. I have heard of Warrantywise. I will look into them a bit more. My thoughts also are for disaster insurance and you just hope they pay up if the time comes. I am surprised that Porsche don’t offer longer term warranty and stand by their product.

I may have misunderstood the situation but I thought a Porsche warranty could run through until the car is 15 years old. Doesn’t that mean that a December 2011 car can have warranty running through until December 2026?

I've just put the final 2 years extended on my 2010 Turbo. Ends March 2025. That will be exactly 15 years (23 days) from it's first registration. I think you've got your dates wrong!

Thanks everyone. Yes it didn't make sense to me either, thus my post. Based on your responses I went back to them and it turns out their advice was incorrect and I can buy warranty right up to the end of year fifteen! (I did say i couldn't believe that we all had to buy our cars on 31 Dec to ensure we could warranty our cars for the full fifteen years!) Thanks again.
