extreme tyre wear one side at the rear - Geometry Issue?

I replaced my rear Michelin PS2's today on my C4S and got the shock of my life.

Last week when I was cleaning the back PU I was on my back peering at the tyres and saw on the nearside wheel and on the very inside of that, tyre baldness on the tread. The offside was worn enough to alert me that they were ready to replace but what struck me was the uneven wear between the two tyres.

I was totally shocked however when I actually saw the tyre off the car in the tyre fitters "" you could see the steel wire poking through the rubber just on the crown of the tyre wall and tread area. Think back to Lewis Hamilton in China last season, just before the front let go and you have a rough idea of what I was looking at. Shame on me for not paying greater attention but in mitigation if I hadn't been on the deck I would never have seen this problem as it couldn't be detected from the wheel arch because of the width of the 295 on the 4s.

I am thinking Geometry "" can anyone confirm this or suffered similar experience "" I haven't tracked the car either.

Geometry - guaranteed. You should get perfectly even tyre wear if the geometry is set to the factory settings.

You'll also notice a big difference in the handling. Sounds like you have too much rear toe-in, or too much negative camber, or both.

Thanks Richard,

I was hoping it was something as straightforward as the geometry. Had it done on my previous car and you're right, the handling is improved.
