Fabspeed Noise

I am thinking about replacing the back boxes on my 996 for something that sounds a bit more interesting and have been deliberating over the PSE & Fabspeed options.

The switchable PSE would be my first choice but the Fabspeed option is considerably cheaper.

Does anyone have any noise tests from a car with Fabspeed mufflers or know whether the car would be likely to get through the Track Day noise tests at Castle Combe?

Thanks guys.

i've been reading these posts about different noise exhausts which people are paying thousands for.

If its not making the car go quicker is it worth it? surely a custom exhaust manufacturer could fabricate a nice sounding exhaust for your car and increase performance a lot cheaper. Or, wouldn't an induction kit be a nice sounding cheaper alternative.

just my 2p.

Hi,

If you check out Fab speeds web site they have .mpegs of various Porsche models with there exhausts on.

You can download these and have a listen. The Speed Yellow GT3 just sounds like it's ready for a GT race[:D] Awesome.

I've got the fabspeed boxes on my 996C2. Glorious noise but I seriously doubt it will make the track day limits at Donnington (96db). The fabspeed boxes are also a different shape to the PSE boxes and on my car slightly foul the heat shield which cant do much for in car noise and vibration. They certainly change the character of the car though. If you are anywhere near Derby or Uttoxeter you are welcome to meet and have a listen. I did post a wav file in this forum some time ago which may give you an idea.

I have a friend who is lending me a noise meter next week so I can test it. Can anyone advise how/where/ I measure the noise to match the track day test??

Thanks Neil.
They sound great but I suspect that they will be generating more than 96dB!
Please post your test results when you have them.
I am not sure how they measure at the track days, perhaps the Club's Track Day team could advise you.

They get you to rev to 4000 revs and put a noise meter right by the exhaust at Castle Coombe. Other tracks (Donnington for instance I think) are drive by meters.

I have a Tubi set of rear mufflers and they are awesome, perfect fit and noise. Same price as the Fabspeed. Quality wise, they are standard issue for Ferrari and Lambo aftermarket and are tried, tested and trusted by Maranello in Surrey. I cant sing the praises of it enough. Let me know if you want to hear it, i am in Fulham London and Hertfordshire at weekends.

Thanks for the offer James.
I suspect from your earlier post that these may make the car to noisy for the Castle Combe day. I think that I will revisit after the track day and may be in touch.

I have a somewhat shaky video demostrating the fabspeed maxflows on my car.
The picture is very shaky but the sound is good and is IMHO exactly how they sound.

You can see it here
