Can just hear the phones ringing in OPC's with folk cancelling orders for current 997!

That is a lot of extra kit!!! Any news on when the Turbo is coming?

It's got to be this year. There's so much new kit that some of it must also be incorporated in the new Turbo and Cayman/Boxster models. Presumably though, like the GT3, the current GT2 is just a limited production run.

Let's hope the price has shot up (speaking as an owner with no intention of changing)

There is a problem with that. Given that Porsche sales have plunged in the USA, and when the USA sneezes Europe catches a cold, PAG cannot possible raise 911 prices. After all, PAG are making record profits so will be able to absorb the minimal increase in production costs

the current lack of customer traffic in my nearest couplke of OPCs suggests they'll be reducing prices , never mind raising.

Ok we know that is never going to happen []

Apparently the PCM has been lifted from the VAG parts bin - its a resoftwared one from the Seat Altea apparently, made by VDO Siemens. Its not as good as the Lamborghini Murcielago system, which they could also have taken from the parts bin !!

I would not worry too much about that. Siemens is a quality company and we should remember just how bad PCM/Sat Nav was when it was introduced on the 996. Porsche of course have a long history of getting parts from other manufacturers, the 356 was almost entirely Beetle and even now BMW make the body parts for the 997. My main gripe about PCM is that we have yet to see Bluetooth and 6 digit post code, something my Garmin Nuvi at £170 is quite able to do. Let's see what 3rd generation PCm is like.

I was speaking to an OPC engineers at Ace Cafe meet on Wednesday and he said that they heard that the entry level Carrera will actually have the CO2 (g/km) just one less than the magic 225 CO2 (g/km); that would be quite a reduction as currently it is something like 285...

Just got my new 997 Gen 2 brochure. Looks great. Certainly a car to have. Trouble is they are offering peanuts for my Cayman S. What to do? []

ps Please don't be rude about Cayman [:)]

derek
before anyone is rude-your cayman is beautiful[:D]
pass it on to your children and go for the new 997s!!!you only live once and it DOES look nice!

Any idea when there will be models available to test drive?
Also, will there be a Powerkit option?
A Carrera S with PDK is calling my name [;)]
My current car was an impulse buy... so a trip to the OPC is now a guaranteed sale.

Any idea when there will be models available to test drive?

OPC gave me a call re. PDK - they were talking about having a car available mid July to try out.
They expect the 4 wheel drive models to be available from Nov. but no information on Turbo.

I've been reading rumours that this PDK cannot handle the torque generated by the Turbo...
However I thought that was the excuse used by Porsche for the delayed launch of the PDK...[&:]

nothing to do with waiting for the facelift at all......[;)]
