Fag lighter

Evening....ive always had trouble getting sat navs and phone chargers to stay connected to the 12v lighter thingy...they seem to slightly pop out after a minute or two....is that because that's what it's designed to do when using it as a fag lighter? Anyone else have the same thing happen?
cheers

Mine isn't that good either, I use it for the dash cam and it beeps at me as the charge is cut...

The eject mechanism is in the cigarette lighter, not the socket.Neither of our 924S's grip a standard 12 volt plug -the type with a projecting thick wire type spring, but I found one of those extender plugs which has an lockable elbow allowing the end socket to point vertically upwards. The plug end on it has 4 flat section "V" shaped projecting springs & this stays in the car socket.I think the plug end also has a disc which one can tighten or loosen to change the spring action a little.

hi mate,,,,
could you send a link if possible please,,,,
cheers,,jasonp

Don't have a link to a supplier as if I remember correctly I bought it some years ago at Strensham Services on the M5 form the Phone shop there. Can take a jpeg or 2 & send as attachment if you let me have your email details-I'll also have a good look at it for Maker details.

A good advantage it has on our 924S's, is that it allows a tidy short lead up to the Sat Nav on the windscreen above-also the twin USB adapter I use with it (for phone charging ) is then also vertical & can't loosen or fall out & everything is kept away from the gearstick

On my 968 in the back of the glove box there was a hole with a bing in it, took the bung out and fitted a 5amp USB charger socket from a place called light in the box online

it has two USB sockets and being high power charges my iPhone even when the phone is being used for sat nav

it also allows the car to look standard and tidy at the same time

that hole, if I'm not mistaken will be the hole for directing A/C cooled air directly into the glovebox, it is on the 86 at least

not having aircon (sad face) the hole proved useful for the constant powered USB

First impressions are good with my 7quid adapter....a five year problem fixed it seems! Sits so flush as well, doubt I'll ever take it out. Cheers
