Failed MOT

The silliest things can catch you out - my local opc was fully booked for the week for MOT's so popped into local centre. Failed on a number plate light, not a problem, new bulb methinks. But no, bulb is fine but the bulb holder has rusted through and pretty much disintegrated. Spoke to the opc and this is a known problem apparently. Bit concerned as to whether the bodywork is affected as well and where has the moisture been coming from. I suspect the rear window washer may have something to do with it as that has been a problem in the past. Still, another warranty claim is on the way. A small thing but irritating.

OPC replaced both bulb holders under warranty, so new MOT beckons which just happens to coincide with another warranty inspection and renewal - doh!

Out of interest which side was rusted?

Last week I went to replace the left hand side bulb, only to find the holder badly corroded and no longer fit for purpose. Checked the right holder and that is bone dry and OK.

Was the offside, but the other one was on it's way out too. OPC agrees it was probably washer fluid when the pipe became disconnected a year or two ago.
