Morning all

Boxster 987, runs fine then failied temp indicator, temp gauge go to zero and flashing red light. Then two minutes later all returns to normal

Does not happen every time we drive the car.

Intend to change the coolant sensor

Anyone had experience with this ?

Thank you

Yes.

Mine used to run fine for 5 minutes or so, temp increasing slowly, then you'd get a beep! And the temp would drop to zero and the red light would flash.

(15 mins later the temp would ramp back up to 80C and all would be well) Until maybe next time, or the time after that.

Definitely coolant temp sensor problem.

Easily done yourself if you have a google. I did mine but made the mistake of buying a cheap sensor.

It failed again a few months down the line.

Cavendish Porsche @ Nottingham advised me to replace it with a genuine Porsche part which was about £20 more.

They cleared the error codes and it has been good as gold since.

Moral of the story, get a genuine part. Part is about £40. £100 ish job lot inc part fitted at a garage.
