Fake Bosch Plugs?

Just bought a set of Bosch plus off flea bay and they look a bit iffy to me, three are stamped made in India and the general finish is not what I would expect of Bosch. Anyone else come across these?

hmm not heard of this, maybe post a pic.

So many random knock offs on ebay, just found out on the vauxhall forum (trying to get oil for my sisters car) that people actually sell knock off vaux oil in official looking cans on ebay, why would you even bother!!

I would use either euro car parts or their sister company car parts for less or for more genuine parts selection try http://www.carparts911.co.uk also part of the ecp group!

ah here you go they are fake:

dont risk it for a tenner for proper ones, if they break in the head.........

Thanks for finding that, very interesting. They were not going anywhere near my engine anyway. As always with flea bay, buyer beware.

Bosch make parts all over a world, also in India. My daily driver VW Passat's coil pack ( new one) have Bosch label on it. There's also "Made in India"
Bosch fabricates foglights and front blinker glass' to 951's & S2's . These items are made in Slovakia. So, nowadays your Bosch part can come very interesting places. Bosch acts like any other big company; it moves production to cheap labor countries [:(]

Absolutely! Genuine Bosch plugs may say "Made in" any one of a number of countries.

The almost funny thing is that the spark plugs as an example are often made in india, but the fakes are made in China, shipped into india for distribution and show the "Made in india", on the surface I find that kind of funny, as it looks almost like China is trying to dirty India's name... But the real reason is probably because the large chains of Motor Factors who do their research will know that the part is made in India, so when they are offered container loads of spark plugs at a cheap wholesale price, they believe (or fool themselves into believing) that as the plugs are made in India, there are any one of a number of reasons why these items will be genuine.

A common part of psychology and marketing is that the unconscious human mind will look for any reason to justify something that the conscious mind would have problems with.. A good example of this is that meat eaters like to see "farm fresh" on food packaging, because it helps them imagine the animals had a nice lift roaming around fields.. when in fact they were probably penned up in a factory farm.. But it helps them feel fine about their purchases...

Likewise, by shipping the fake parts through india, it gives big time buyers the ability to talk themselves into the parts being genuine, even though they do not come through the right channels.

Meanwhile, I am a meat eater who watches too much of the discovery channels I guess!

Some times i have installed cheap tie rod ends to 944. In most cases these are made in China. They won't last for long.... Then i bought "quality item". I ordered Lemförder (ZF, oem item). On the box was Made in Germany. I was a bit surprised when i checked out this part. It had all ZF/Lemförder labels and also a text "Made in China".
