Falken Tyres

Hi, Finally got round to swopping the rear ( odd make ) tyres round on my 944s which I'd been experiencing a droning noise and the noise has shifted sides. I'm going to change both tyres for new ones. I've found these Falken tyres on camskill and wondered if anyone else has these on their car? A mate of mine has them on the back of his BMW M3 and reckons they're really good.

Seem very good money for £165 delivered !! I can get them fitted and balanced for £25 for the pair at a local tyre shop

Any advice gratefully received.

I often use National tyres on my 'normal' cars and they are usually very competitive for me. As a result , I just put that tyre size and rating in as a comparison. I ws going to say for me I'd prefer my tyres fitted where I bought them for the free puncture repairs + piece of mind etc. All I can say is ' bloomin eck' ( plus a few choice words more). I hope those tyres are O.K because the cheapest I got was 140 a tyre and that was for Uniroyals ! Continentals were 169 each ( all fitted). I know Falkens are well thought of here not not which Falkens are and which not. Best of luck Mas

Personally, I'd pay the extra fiver a tyre and get the FK452, which is their more sporting tyre: http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m54b0s321p6210 Lots of people fit them to their 944/68 and really like them. I haven't used them on my 968 yet, but I've used them on my other car, and they're a very good tyre. Not quite as good as some of the more premium brands, but a still a damn good tyre for the money.

I have the next one up in the Falkens, F-452 got them from black circle for a good price fitted. They seem good in the wet and ok in the dry. When pushed the car understeers, so good for the cost but don't perform as well as say the Toyo or Goodyear.

Me too, had them fitted at the local Blackcircle franchise who were real enthusiasts. About £75 per tyre a year or so ago.

Seems the Falkens perform well on the lesser powered S2/S3 (sorry 968). But can't contain the extra power the turbo has! [;)][;)]

I have the 452s on the back of mine, cost me £110 each fitted at my local tyre place about 18 months ago and they are fantastic. Will put them on the front as well in around 2014 when the P6000s wear out....

Thanks for the replys, sounds like I'll be getting the 452's at only a tenner extra for the pair they seem good value for money. I'm curious that they have two Falken tyres of the same size with only £5 difference in the price though. I'm not worried about buying them online and having them fitted locally, I can't remember ever needing to claim on a new tyre warranty or puncture insurance ( damn that means it'll happen now !! ) ATB Norm

Norm, They are 15 minutes away from me and very reputable, bought some Toyo's off the recently.

I've replaced Bridgestone RE050 on the front of my Golf TDI with Falken ZE-912s. So far hey are every bit as good as the Bridgestones, if not marginally better in the wet. Whilst the FK452 is the more sportytyre, the ZE912 is a little more all rounder in terms of compound so is better on colder days, and dare i say it, snow (although no match for a true winter tyre).
