fan stopped working

After a good wash some water was seen dripping from the bottom of the dash board (ashtray poistion). not a lot however the vents made a peculiar loud sound then the fan stopped working!! Is it common for water to enter the car from the front vent below the screen and what do I do to sort out the fan. Also the oil level red light doesn't come on when I start my car. Would the bulb just need replacing as all other indictions (oil pressure, temp and reading) are fine.

I had a leak via the fresh air vent.
In the passenger foot well is a shaped hose ( like you would use on a pond pump ! )
If you open the bonnet, there is a cover over the windscreen wiper motors etc, this is held on with 4/5 screws.
If you remove this cover you will see the fresh air vent. the hose from the foot well connects to the bottom of the air inlet so water runs out via the hose, this is hopefully one remidy to your problem, you may need to enlist the help of some one to push the hose up from the footwell whilst you guild it to the desired position.
Hope this is of use.
