Fan won't turn off!

Hi

I'm now (as of last saturday) the proud owner of a 1987 924s Red with linen interior. Apart from needing a new PS rack the cars in amazing nick. (61kmiles with a nice log book and bills)

However theres a small centrifugal fan in the 'heater/freshair' box under the bonnet in the middle right under the screen. Its on the drivers side as you look in. Its not the main fan for the interior.

Anyway it does'nt turn off ever. So at the moment I'm just taking the leads of the battery.

If anyone know why its doing this and how to fix, or just stop it, please let me know.

Thanks in advance

I had a similar thing in my 944 - but intermittent... (You would park the car, lock it, and then the fans would cut in after you walked away, flattening the battery. The first you knew of it was when you disarmed the alarm, and the voltage drop triggered the siren[8|][][])

The cause was traced by GT-One to the ignition switch. A new one cured it.

So you mean the fan/fans in the (sorry dont have a haynes manual yet) in the heater/fresh air box thing by the front middle of the windscreen???

Your on the money with it being something to do with the ignition switch.

On 924s if you have your key in the ignition the small fresh air fan spins up. So if this part goes a bit your left with an intermitent problem.

I'm lucky to have found a guy who services 944s and 924s out of his own garage. Cheap, very knowledgeable and thank god a nice guy and not a rip-off merchant.
