Fancying a KN

Hi all. I'm looking to change my Honda CRV EX during this next 12 months or so. I would like another SUV and was thinking about the feasibility of a Cayenne. I do around 18k miles in the main car and around 3k in the boxster. I'll be keeping the boxster of course!

What are the benefits and pit falls of KN ownership - would you get another?

Many thanks

Richard

Short answer - yes, and I did. Have now done well over 100k miles in two KN's; Gen 1 and facelift.

They are without a doubt great cars, handle brilliantly for a large barge, great performance (from the V8) and are well screwed together. Secondhand they offer terrific value for money IMO and the worst of the depreciation is gone in only a couple of years [:(]

Downsides? Compared with the Honda, fuel consumption is markedly worse (average 19mpg, using the performance of the V8) and it's quite a big vehicle although manoevring is simple with a good turning circle. I bought a spare set of wheels and winter tyres off ebay and that helps with tyre wear!

Look out for - good options to have are air suspension, sunroof, cruise and satnav. Early cars had a couple of recall issues involving the rear window electric lock and the coil packs can go (changed under warranty on my Gen1).

Find a good one and you won't be disappointed.

I still have mine but think I would go for the Diesel Toureg if starting again and unless you need a
a larger car the Tiguan might be worth a look?

There's a brand new, completely revised, Cayenne coming out in May.

Actually looks quite nice and should incorporate numerous improvements, especially wrt fuel consumption and running costs. There's even a 'hybrid' version.

Is it correct that the Toureg and Cayenne are based on the same platform?

Richard
Yes they are, as is the Audi Q7. However, when you drive them you'll understand the DNA differences.

I'd get another one day .... I loved my V6 ... 3 years of ownership and not a worry .. Currently RS6'ing ;)

Had a V6 and it was great. Spacious enough, lovely to drive and would recommend one all day long. Try and get the facelifted model if you can as even though the differences visually are minor, side by side much better car.
