have been looking into buying a boxster.......looking at ads and i cant figure out how you get to the engine??!!! just incase of breakdown, aa - rac etc!! sounds daft, but curious....please advise...many thanks.

Open drivers door, get into the drivers seat, switch on and start up, put it in gear, accelerate hard through the gears and enjoy the maginifent sound track!!!!!!!!!!!

It's behind you! I have had a boxster for 5 years and never seen the engine and have no real desire to. But if you must, check the manual and all is revealed but beware as it's not about lifting a boot or bonnet lid as in much lesser cars!

Whatever - enjpy, nothing comes close!

its accessed (basically) by lifting the hood off the back of the car.

or from underneith depending on what job needs doing. But as has been stated. i had a Boxster for about 4-5 years and never saw the engine.

Ahhh yes .....engine curiosity. I remember having a look when I first got mine.

Never looked since, but I sounds beautiful!!!! [:D][:D][:D]

Thankyou you all ever so much....am looking to buy one very soon....il let you no how i get on..thanks again.

Look carefully and take your time. Theres a lot to choose from.

Look forward to hearing from you again when you have done the deed! [;)]

my word! that looks like a joy to access/ repair. I thought my engine bay was tight. Good luck with finding one... did anyone mention crank/ main bearing oil seals... or such like? I've heard rumours about a common problem but don't really know what I'm on about.

I had a look at mine on just two occasions in 4.5 years, gave something a bit of a buff each time and haven't seen it since... I can still feel its effect and hear it though, and something is using the petrol I put in.

I am so relieved to read about so many other people who, like me, have only ever seen their engine once or twice. I was beginning to feel as though this was the the automotive equivalent of locking your kids under the stairs...

I watched someone at one of the IOM events demonstrate the spoiler lifting to the amazed owner of the car. He wasn't amazed at the fact that pushing a button would operate it - he never knew the car had one! [&:]

I noticed that you can now get an indicator light which comes on when the spoiler goes up. I think it replaces one of the switch blanks on the centre console.

I can confirm that it does indeed sound glorious. Running my race prepped one with all the sound absorbant baffling removed is a delight (ok, and a slightly modified exhaust...). However, a word of warning, even on a cold day it hits 70 deg C in the car with it all removed - virtually everything behind the driver gets far too hot to touch.....
