Faulty Cab Roof Latch

Hi All,

Looking for some help/advise.

I have a MY99 Carerra 4 Cab and recently there has been a lot more wind noise, squeaks and creaks than normal when the roof is up.

I noticed that when I closed the roof the hook pulled on the interior latch and forced it move so it doesnt sit quite right. It has over the passed few weeks got a lot worse to the stage where now it sometimes "falls" and leaves quite a large gap along the roof/windscreen.

Is this a garage job or can it be stripped/tightened by myself?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

David

When I had my 996 C4 cab I had the same problem.

OPC Cambridge sorted out the problem at the next service and did not charge me for work. I think that the switch or catch which '' receives" the hook has to be replaced.

Initially I was forced to close the roof manually because the last inch or so was open - I would just pull gently on the mechanism on the roof.

There doesn't seem to be any adjustment available on the latch mechanism. Unless it has come loose, which I would have thought would be obvious, it sounds like it might need replacing. There is a revised design for the latch - it now uses the same one as the 997. There was also a modified location peg for the top, but that was more for an alignment issue.

I think I'd be tempted to take off the side covers of the latch housing and poke around to see if anything has come loose. According to the manual, there are holes in the front edge of the housing into which you push an allen key and press the cover down and out.

its not the hook on the roof that is loose, its the internal bit that has the interior lights etc attached to it. The whole thing pulls loose when the hook in the roof pulls on it. Sorry if i didn't make it clear.

Sorted! Cheers Richard. Two torque screws had worked loose found under the covers which just popped off. Feel a bit of a muppet it was that straight forward. Thanks again. David
