faulty oil pressure sender

Hi, just recently on my 996 C2 (2002MY) a warning message has started flashing up on the OBC screen, I can't remember exactly what it says - diagnostic fault - or something similar. At the same time the oil pressure guage drops to zero. No red or amber warning lights come on and the engine doesn't miss a beat. Within a matter of seconds the oil pressure gauge jumps back up to its normal running level, 4 to 5 bar, and the message on the obc screen disappears. am I righth in thinking that the pressure sensor send unit could be at fault?

Might try that before replacing the sender.

Hi Paul. I had exactly the same issue with my MY 2003 C2 - the indicator dropped to zero and then shot back up again - exactly the same as yours is doing. Without a doubt it's the sender - either that or the connection to it. My OPC replaced my sender and all was well after that. There have been other threads about this. I was pretty shocked at mine going after 18,000 miles and at 4 years old!
