Faulty tappets

Hi, just waiting to have my Boxster lifted to the nearest Porsche garage as the tappets are making the most horrendous noise - has anyone suffered with this previously, as this is causing me concern, due to them being hydraulic. Any idea of cost, time etc, as we all know how much per hour Porche charge!!

Many thanks

Xian

Official Porche Centers charge approx £100 p/hr

Is the car still under warranty?

If not consider taking it to a local independent Porsche specialist - they will be much cheaper

Where are you located?

Pete

Oh, yes, I'm fully aware of the old £100 per hour thing!! No, the car isn't under warranty, it is 3 years and 2 weeks old, and when I got the RAC out, they confirmed my suspicions that is sounded like the tappets, and then the Porsche garage told me not to drive it, so the RAC lifted it to the garage, and haven't been able to look over it as yet. I really wanted to fins out from anyone else if this is a regular occurance, or I am just unlucky. I'm in the Bedford area, but the car is at Hatfield currently. My husband and I have been ringing a couple of independant places, and are waiting for the Porsche garage to confirm it's the tappets before deciding - it is just such a pain, as I'm carless, and have no idea of how long it will all take.

If anyone can enlighten me, I would be most grateful!!
