Faulty traction control?

I have a 1998 C2 with traction control. For the first year or so I drove with it off, then turned it on at the start of last winter. No problems until today, when the 'information light' has started flashing at low speed (forward and reverse) accompanied by a mechanical noise and definite feeling of 'regulating action', as the owners manual quotes. When I turn the TC off the problem disappears. My questions really are:
- Should I be concerned and get it checked out?
- If so, has anyone else had this problem and how expensive is it to sort out?
- Can I quite happily drive with the TC off and ignore this issue?

Any advice gratefully received!

Thanks

On my '98 C2 the TC would reset to it's default position of 'on' every time the ignition was switched on. I'm assuming that you must have been switching it off every time you drove the car. If not, maybe it has been playing up for some time.

Best bet is to get someone to do a diagnostic check and read the fault codes.

Thanks Richard. Thinking back, when I bought the car the orange light on the 'TC OFF' button was on, but not the warning light below the speedo. When I turn it on and off now the warning light comes on as it should, and as you say resets itself to 'on' each time the ignition is turned on. I will get it checked out, but do you think I am OK to drive with it turned off?

I would have thought you would be OK to drive it, but I would get it looked at as soon as poss. TC is part of the ABS controller, so where brakes are concerned you can't be too careful.
