The next meeting, on Sunday 13th Feb., sees former vehicle designer and R10 member Mark Walton as our speaker. He has a broad interest in Porsches, owning a 996 himself, and will cover the basics of vehicle design and how they relate to Porsche. 1.00pm to 3.00pm

The following month (Sunday 13th March) we are fortunate to have Glenn McMenamin joining us. Glenn is also a long-standing member of our region and, having started out doing the odd track day, soon got the appetite for going faster - modifying a couple of road going GT3's - then stepped into the seriously competitive world of Porsche racing in 2008. In both 2009 and 2010 he won the ProAm 2 class of Porsche's Carrera Cup GB racing series. He is also a keen biker (pedal variety), so is not entirely single-minded. Glenn has agreed to talk about his experiences of getting into racing, some of the tales from the pit lane and will also try to answer some of your questions.

Glenn's website lives at http://www.glennracing.com/

There is a strong history of motorsport success amongst R10 members - from Keith Martin racing his classic 1970's Dulon Porsche, Calum Lockie (of Goldtrack fame) racing everything and anything(!) in endurance races, Glenn in Carrera Cup and also former RO, Pete Smallwood, conquering all in Class 2 of the Club's GT3 Cup series in 2010. And there are many, many more (apologies for not listing everyone) - possibly because we're so near Silverstone, Rockingham, Bedford and Donnington. I'm sure if you're tempted to start racing, coming along to meet the likes of Glenn will help inspire you to make the next step. Again, 1.00pm start.
