Feint rotational clicking

I've noticed a feint clicking noise that appears to be coming from the passenger side and seems to be related to the rotational speed of the wheels. It doesn't get any louder with speed just more frequent. However, just a gentle touch on the brake pedal and the clicking stops, only to start again when I remove my foot from the brake pedal. Discs and pads are in excellent condition - no signs of deterioration and all disc surfaces smooth and all vent holes clear. Also, no juddering at all from either light or hard braking.

I was wondering if it's simply road debris that's become lodged between the disc and the back plate?

Thoughts/ideas appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

If it's s regular clicking say once per rotation it's not somethin lodged in the caliper. jack the wheel off the ground and turn it by hand to see if the click is still there.

Check there is no stone lodged in the circumference slots of the rotor; also that the pad wear sensors and service wiring are in place. After this, check that the pads shims are in place and in good order.
If you feel capable, remove the pads and very lightly coat the backs with a brake grease, refit and road test.
Following this, it will be a matter of elimination. With an assistant rotate the wheel off the ground and see if you can identify the source from there. If not start removing components one at a time until the noise stops. You then have the source.
Annoying, but working through methodically should do the trick.

Clive

I once had a similar speed dependent sound coming from front corner of my car.
It had me puzzled for a couple of weeks but eventually I found what it was.

A stone chip had lodged itself in one of the grooves in my tyre.
It was probably sandwiched between the tyre and road when I casually checked this possibility the first time round.
The stone was small enough to fit in the grooves but big enough to slip the road as the tyre rotated round.

In my case it was a bit like having a stone chip stick to the sole of your shoe and the sound of the stone hitting the ground can be heard upon each step you take.
