Few newbie s2 questions

Hi,

Got my 1991 s2 a week ago and am wondering...

1. Where are the straps that hold the sunroof ?
2. Where does the spare wheel air compressor sit exactly ?
3. Does water spray onto rear window for the wiper ?
4. What bulbs (and how many) do I need to brighten dash and to get light on clock working ? Seen ones on ebay 509t type ? Was reading about prisms and what would be best material for recovering them do you think ?

Thanks for any help!

1. Unually in the spare wheel well or the pannier tank in the boot. May no longer be with the car of course.
2. Ditto 1, IISC it sits inside the spare wheel.
3. No, no intermittentg either.
4. I used tin foil & electrical tape, YMMV. Note that you can remove the instrument binnacle with the steering wheel in place but it's much easier if you remove it. If you remove the wheel Just loosen the centre nut but keep it on the shaft, the wheel will be stiff to remove & the nut will save you getting a bloody nose [;)]

Thanks. See the pannier tank.. where is that exactly ? I have a feeling it is maybe meant to go in the right corner ? (drivers rear light corner) I think mine might be missing. What bulbs (and how many) did you use for brightening the dash and to illuminate clock ?

For dash brightening, you may well find that its not a question of needing bulbs but rather the prisms used to reflect the light deteriorate over time. Either buy some new prisms or go for an LED conversion kit such as provided by Jager which a number of us have gone for.

The deep storage holes behind each rear wheel. I don't know what other people call them, to me they are pannier tanks [8D]. The battery will be in the nearside one on a RHD car.

Take the boot floor carpet out & have a look around your new toy [;)]
