Few pics of the 997 I was loaned by the OPC

My Boxster went in for some work on the roof a week or two ago and I was lucky enough to get a loan 997 C2 for a week.

I found the difference coming from a 987 in the midrange and overall power of the 997. What a car. The steering has more feel, front end lighter under power and the grip was phenomenal! The main difference was when travelling along country lanes, I was 20mph faster in the 997 and well within the cars and my comfort zone.

I will sadly miss this car....until I place my order for one in the next year or two!! [:D]

Hope you don't mind the pics - I've posted them elsewhere but thought PCGB might like to see them!

Glad to see you experienced the full range of British weather - from Sunshine to Snow - in just one week !

BTW looks like Lapis Blue to me, not dark enough for Midnight Blue ?

Hi Rob,

I agree with you re. the colour. I need to spec a 4S within the next month and my head is telling me Basalt but my heart is saying something else....!

I am keeping the other options I want well away from me head of course...

Keep up the good work!

Julian

Ps. My '87 3.2 Supersport is Silver. Must work out how to update my sign on one day...!

Just go in the 'previously owned' showroom of your OPC and see how many silver, grey and black 997's there are. Now think about the alternatives!

Superb pics, excellent composition, perfectly exposed, very professional, are you an experienced photographer? can you give us technical details of the camera/lens etc.?

It's Midnight Blue. The colour changes so much in different light and there was quite extreme changes that week!!

As for experienced, I used to work with photography a lot in a previous career but never behind the camera myself. I take a lot of interior shots for work now but am still in the learning phase. I put it down to the gorgeous subject [;)][8|]

The camera is a Canon 350D with a Sigma 10-20 ultra-wide lens. Shots were Photoshoped for levels, contrast, shadow and highlight. The colour was matched between shots to some extent for consistency but that's about it really.[:D]

You should give your OPC some copies.

They might lend you a few more cars in the future - far better than the photos most OPC use on their sales web sites.

Hope you've sent these through to Stephen Mummery for Porsche Post use - they're super shots.

By the way, great camera, have one myself and really excellent quality results.

Peter

Fantastic shots! I love the first 997 shot with the house with the red window frames. Looks like something out of Evo magazine. I have a Canon EOS 33 and was thinking about a 20D though if thats how good the shots with a 350D turn out, is there any point spending another £1000 on the 20?

Thanks Peter just emailed some off! I think I have about 150 of the 911!!!

Dapster - the 350D is great. It shoots pretty clean and doesn't seem to suffer from problems withe the edge of the image on full resolution. The Sigma lens makes the difference though, it makes the shot so dramatic!

Great, great photos Steve.

btw, which OPC is loaning out 997, let alone Porsche?? All I can get from mine is a BMW of some sort.
