Fidanza Flywheel

Couple of questions....

On a US web site I have read that if you change the DMF for a single mass item you should also fit an 'S2 Harmonic balancer' Which I think is a heavier pulley that goes on the front of the engine for the varies belts. Has anybody done thsi and if so does it work ? Or has anybody suffered any failures (long term) due to increased vibrations during slow down etc ?

Also...what clutch are people running with the Fidanza ? The original OEM (Sachs I think) or anything else ?

I see EMC are 'Fidanza agents' are they the best people to buy from or is it still best to go over the pond ?

Lots of questions..thanks in advance.

I think EMC run Sachs clutches with their flywheels. Best to speak to either Kevin or Alex. They'd probably be able to answer your questions.

I think the harmonic balancing would work to some degree but I'll wait for a more experienced hand to comment.

Ive got a "EMC" Fidanza flywheel fitted in my car.
Its good ,,, BUT you have to be prepared for extra noise from the gearbox. In terms of gear chatter etc.
I havnt got a "harmonic balancer" , so cant comment on this..But as you say, the USA chaps seem to find it works, of a fashion.. BUT surely it adds weight, which is why you fit a light fly in the first place..???
If its a street car then just stick with the Dual mass.
If you use it on the track, a lot, then go light with the Fidanza.

Personally if i had to drive the car a lot on the road, the noise would REALY get to me...As i like the car to be quiet...

Oh and yes the Sachs clutch is the one to fit....

Yeah it is an odd one that, surely on a track car you would want to have an engine that is as responsive as possible. Having less rotational mass will actually make the car accelerate quicker as a fair amount of power is wasted (think how an inertial dyno works) revving the engine up and down. If not a track car why would anyone bother unless the DMF has just gone kaput and you don't want to replace it.

There are 2 Fidanza's available. From what i recall EMC's is the stock Fidanza one c12lbs? (someone please correct me if wrong) and the other is the one that Pete at RS Barn had made via Fidanza and weighs approx 18lbs (need to confirmt he weights). The latter is the one i have, and i not as noisy as some that other's here have [;)] (being the lighter ones) (and the noise is the gearbox!)

9M also produce one in steel, pretty much a replica of the original Porsche item and weighing about the same (as with the RS Barn one whcih was to replicate the weight of the Porsche item)
