Finally arrived!

Well, the moment I've been looking forward to since the order went in last October. I delayed taking delivery after handing in the Gen I to the opc last November as I was off on an extended two month trip. Arrived back in the UK rather jet lagged yesterday but decided I couldn't wait and shot round to pick the car up. Surprising amount of detail changes to be briefed on, particularly with the pcm/ipod/nav/phone upgrades and the gearbox, of course, so took best part of an hour and a half for the handover including paperwork.

First impressions? Love the look of the car with the standard wheels, red belts look good inside and the pcm is much less cluttered to look at. The engine note at idle, as others have mentioned is quite different from the previous model, almost 'gritty' from the outside. Took her for a 50 mile run in the evening and am confident the pdk is going to be fun, and the engine feels really eager and punchy straght out of the box. Too much traffic around to comment on any handling differences, all seemed reassuringly familiar.

The phone set up with a Nokia 6500 is excellent as is the ipod interface. The nav looks to be an improvement, although I share Derek's frustration that basics like full postcode is still not available.

So far so good and looking forward to the trips and track day the register are planning.

It does look great in red, Peter. I've got 2.5K on mine now and it just gets better. Launch is such a hoot. All we need now is a decent PSE! Enjoy[8D]

Lovely car, as ever with the 997, looks so good in Guards Red, especially with those wheels..

Like you part ex'd my Gen1 in November, due to collect my new white one this Saturday... [:)]

As for the PSE, Swindon OPC now say should be available to fit in May...

Enjoy! [;)]

Lovely car Pete, wow two months flew by. I do like the wheels, very nice indeed!

My car has now done 4.5k miles, oil usage is lower and I love PDK (even the buttons don't bother me!) And launch is great too :)

Enjoy it and hope to catch up with you soon.

Cheers,
Simon

Maybe because its late at night I'm not sure, but I think the first picture of the car under the cover looks just so damn good [8D]
Almost a sexy tease with a little bit on show but a great outline obvious and plain to see.[:D]

Peter, looks stunning and I look forward to seeing it on the open road [:)]

Nice car Peter, like the colour. One thing, you think the OPC could have cleaned the interior a bit better, it looks a bit dusty around the gearstick.[;)]
I'm not jealous, not one little bit, at all.

Congratulations Peter,
A lovely looking car.
And it's certainly cheered you up - you're looking a lot younger than when I last saw you! :ROFLMAO:
Happy motoring.

Looks like he hasn't yet realised you've just spent his inheritance! [:(]

Peter,

Congratulations on finally picking up your new baby.

The colour and wheel combination too looks fantastic.

I know you are just going to love the PDK too, I just adore mine and enjoy it more every time I drive it.

Hope to see you on one of the club events in the near future.

Have fun and keep driving it with enthusiasm!!

Cheers,

Nige.

Congrats - I have 10K miles on my gen 2 now - it just gets quicker and quicker and I can't stay out of it!!
