Finally, back on the road!

Two and a bit weeks and a big scary bill later, have at last got my S2 back. New cams, chain, followers, valve springs & head gasket etc., I'm glad to report at least that it does feel noticeably brighter & sound quieter. I used to get a particular harmonic-type noise sometimes between 2.5k & 3.5k that seems to have gone, not sure if that was symptomatic of the failing follower / valve spring, or just a belt tension thing that has been resolved by resetting. Have been driving very different (& obviously inferior) cars kindly lent by a friend whilst it was off the road (SLK & Smart for Two), has highlighted the need for a geometry / alignment set-up.......

Glad the waggon is back where it belongs!

SLK inferior? It's not even in the same league! I'm so sorry you had to slum it like that.

Oli.

Congratulations. It must be a great feeling to drive the car knowing for sure that everything is running as well, if not better than the day the car was born - at least it takes the sting out of the garage bill!!
