finally got my S on the road

Some might remember I bought an '88 S a few weeks ago for worryingly cheap price, well its now MOT'd and on the road :)

I bought it as a non-runner that had stood for nearly 2 years on a whim, anyway turns out the battery that the PO had said was fully charged, turned out to be a duff battery [:D]
Fitted a known good one and hey presto!!! It started!!
Needed an overhaul of the brakes, a steering gaiter, small patch of welding on the o/s sill and a tyre, and that was it.
Needs some tlc and all the fluids drained and changed, but its MOT'd and Taxed so the blue n/a I had has been sold and I'm now an S owner, and I tell you something....

What a difference a few years of upgrading make!!!!

If it has beern standing for 2 years, change all the belts and think of changing the belt tensioner.

Got them on order Geoff [;)] Heard so many horror stories about them I'm not taking any chances.

Nouveau, it seems to be so far, much better drive than the n/a, p/s makes a heck of a difference, just feels a lot tighter, it is 6 years newer, but looking at what little history I got with it, it seems to have been looked after very well upto about 4 years ago.

email sent Paul, hopefully will get around to joining the club this year, end of the month probably when I get paid.

Just booked it in for the belt change, and surprise, surprise it's been a sod!!
Never heard of an S with a hot start problem, but guess what mine has developed one!!!

Starts on the button from cold, and if I restart it immediately after turning it off it'll start, but switch it off for anything more than 5 secs. and it won't start for about an hour and a half.
Anyone got any ideas?

Thankfully, Mine has NEVER had this/or any other problem but thought of future problems..Trip me up like a school Bully!
does One get a Porsche Club sticker when One registers?
they're on ebay..(the stickers that is!)
