I found my car (lhd C2, no sunroof, no air-con, no rear wiper)18 months ago - purely by chance. I'd been looking in the usual places but eventually stumbled across it in a garage whilst helping my father pick up his car. It was perfect so I asked the garage owner whose it was and nearly kissed him when he said it was a regular customers car and he was looking to sell it. Needless to say the deal was done on the spot.
All I would suggest is check the websites which regularly import cars from Germany. It seems the poverty spec cars were only really ordered in Germany.
Having given a passenger ride to an RS owner he commented that the car accelerated just as fast as his and felt similarly agile in the turns (all be it with a bit more body roll and less fiersome brakes).
Still not bad for a basically standard car on road tyres bought for £12k.
A reduced spec does make a difference so try and hold out for one.
They are out there but just devilishly hard to find.

Ok it's not white (which are the most sought after[]) and it's not poverty. But it is LHD, a very good price and bits can always be taken off if you're aim is for weight saving.
