Wasnt that long ago it was the first £100k 993 RS (Black RHD Clubsport, offered on this forum first too by PH)

http://www.astonmartin-lotus.com/inventory/detail/658-porsche_993_rs

Well I know its $225k but add VAT, import duty and shipping then its £200k.

On a slightly more serious note, why didnt the US get the 993 RS when it was new, and what are the rules about sending european cars across to the US? Have read somewhere that you could export a 95 and earlier car but not 96 and later?

Having spent some time on Rennlist, it seems you need to spend quite a bit of $$$ to get an RS approved for use in the US. Notice, the car has airbags and comfort seats. The production RS (as we all know etc..) had recaro buckets and various electric window/airbag options available on the extras list. There was no way they were going to get a standard RS approved and for the numbers likely to be sold and for the purposes of homologation, it was probably not worth adapting them for import into the US.... The US didn't get the Gt3 until the 996 mk2 version, again with safety features as standard and then the RS arrived in 997 form, so no 964/993RS..there was the 964 RS America, where they used up remaining C2 shells (marketing??), but no homologation there. This ad has been around for about a year, when discussed, the price wasn't seen to be that far out of line once the cost of buying a decent suitable low miles car and adapting it for use in the states was taken into consideration. At the time the reckoning was approx $200k all in. My understanding is that once a car is 25 years old the restrictions on imports into the US are relaxed, so in 2020, expect to see Tsunami of a bid from US buyers looking for Lhd 993 RS comforts.....I am led to believe, fully caged cars cannot be used on the road, as you will kill yourself, just by sitting in it, so the comforts will be the ones in demand.

Mike, I believe they are supplied with the cars, some states are more restrictive than others, but don't forget they are not full factory fit welded cages, which is the difference here. You can unbolt the cage and remove it from a 997, not a 964/93 RSCS. Even if you buy a Uk/European 997 RS mk 1, my understanding is that the front bolt in section was available as an option, I don't know if that is the case with mk2, but then again, chances of Porsche supplying something free that some would be prepared to pay up for in the past?? [;)] The £200k scenario you arrived at, already included the duty and conversion fees to get it into the US, then we have more fees to bring it back to Europe, I came to the conclusion that you must be used to paying far too much bro'. [:D]

Probably attracts the 10% import duty but no VAT as the car was originally from Europe (anyone care to correct me if I am wrong). If I were to import a 993RS originally registered outwith EU, you will pay VAT + import duty. Still, too expensive to bring back into Europe now.

Personal import can be just 17.5 vat and no duty. To get the 5%vat only and no duty, now takes a lot of work,it may be possible and can be done , before you buy.It may just come under the rare car heading

Looks ok, non original wheels, steering wheel, bumper air intakes, seats and harnesses...wonder what one with original spec would be worth?

Lots not original, could be cup car not CS? Was that steering wheel an option on the car though as I have seen a few with it on. (Have now sold all my cars other than the RS so hope to get some more use out of it now)

Mike, from an initial glance, cups tend to have the double side door bar to the cage, in the shape of an X, the front wings don't have the side indicators and mostly have the headlight washer holes present, but blanked. This car has the varioram ram as per Cs rather than the cup induction system. It could be a converted cup, with different hubs to take bolt on wheels,,,more likely a CS that has been slightly ransacked at some point? The steering wheel appears to be a Momo as fitted to cuppies, can't see enough detail from the photo to see if it is the real deal with Porsche logo engraving...many people fit these, available from DT http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Performance/Steering_Wheels_&_Accessories/Steering_Wheels/Momo_Model_07_Steering_Wheel/323/1029/13716 All in all it looks a nice car, with various parts having been changed and fairly low mileage, I would wonder if it has some race history? Sold ALL your cars, ex the RS?...Does that include the CGT?

LOL..............for anything like that price, i'd possibly sell yours, Paul!! Where do they get these prices from?????????

Hi Johnny, hope you are well.. The seller clearly gas a sense of humour!...(or just mad??) I would probably let mine go for a 5 figure sum and I am really looking forward to getting time to use it next month, rather than actually thinking about selling!
