Well here it is in the showroom: Ooops, a few problems with my first try, but you get the idea. The colour is fantastic; much better than Cobalt. What do you think of yellow belts and stitching?

Looks great. Can't wait for mine. How long did it take from build date to arrival in the OPC?

Enjoy

Derek. Just contacted my OPC and my car has arrived at Reading for prep and should be with my dealer next week for me to pick up on Saturday.

1 week, but I suppose that all depends on the shipping. They only go so often and wait for a load. My OPC said that I could expect up to 10 days

That's strange, I have been told that all Porsches now go straight from the port to the dealership.

Hatfield tell me that mine is their first aqua blue and I can collect either Friday afternoon or Saturday.

You will not be disappointed. Like you, I ordered the colour unseen; a bit of a gamble. I am delighted with the car and the photos don't do it justice.

Have your OPC offered any freebies? I do resent having to pay extra for floor mats on a car not far short of 90k. I have kept my old mats which are in good condition and the correct colour and will use them. I was told unequivacally that OPCs do not give freebies like other marques.

Derek,

Your car is stunning - the aqua is a very nice colour and the yellow contrasts nicely. I has it in my head you were having the wheels painted white too?

As to freebies - nothing - not even a full tank of fuel.....

Firstly, I decided to get the wheels painted later; apparantly Porsche only paint the outside. However, I am now going to sit on the fence and think about it. Several have advised against it. White wheels look great on my Aqua Blue Mini Cooper, but I'm not so sure on the Porsche. After all, should I go the whole hog and put bonnet stripes on as well??? [:D]

As for freebies, I got very little, in fact bu**er all. I did get a good price for the Cayman S, especially in light of the huge drop in value since I sold it. Yes I too have to pay the full price for carpets, something that used to be thrown in. My Cayman carpets were hardly pristine, so I decided I would not spoil the Cab for a halfpenny of tar and bit the bullet. I suspect that as the credit crunch tightens the purse strings of OPCs they it seeks to wring the maximum out of their clients. That, in my opinion, is bad practice, as it will convince some not to buy at all.

I collect the car on Tuesday and will insist on a full tank of petrol. I have already got them to agree it will be Super unleaded, something they don't normally do, despite what Porsche recommend we do!

Interestingly, when I collected my new Mini Cooper in March, they tried to charge me for petrol and oil!!!!!!! I refused to pay and just said I did not want any oil or petrol and told them to take it out. They did not remove it [:D] .

Derek, that is one gorgeous motor, very brave of you, but it works very well. When I bought my 996 I was put off ordering speed yellow and went for artic silver, and have regretted it ever since, but next time......

Can I ask what you are paying for insurance. I have been quoted for my C2S cab £675 with a 7£50 excess by Performance Insurance Brokers. Have protected no claims and IAM member. car is garaged and for <7000 miles per year with business and pleasure. Awaiting a quote from IAM affiliated broker who guarantees to beat any other quote but for 5000 mile pa and excess of £600.

I guess you are of similar fvintage to me with a clean licence.

I use A Plan Private Clients. They are great and invariable undercut most. Personally I go for quality and not quantity so am always wary of not only the premium, but also how they react when I have an accident (not that I have had one for ages... touch wood).

For my 997 Gen 2 Cab, value over £80K, I am presently paying £428, protected full ncb, 5000 miles pa, 2 cars in family, no legal, XS £600 voluntary, VTS required. Clean licence. Age 60+

That's nice. I really like the yellow belts against the Blue. Hope you enjoy it as much as the Cayman.
