Hi all,

my car is going in for its 1st annual service next thursday, i'm assuming that its just an oil+filter change service so they wont be changing air filters? i have a bmc f1 air filter!?
I've heard some people provide mobil 1 to avoid the dealer 'price' Is it worthwhile? how do you need to get? 9l?
Was going to use OPC's collection & delivery service, but i have not been into a OPC showroom before so have decided to take the car in myself to have a good look around![:D]

They will not change the oil filter until the 24000 mile service unless you ask them to.
I don't think the air filter is touched - (only the Pollen filter - which costs more [;)]) but they might check it anyway...
Might be best to re-fit the original for the service...(I didn't say that).

Hi All,

I am a new member to this forum, as I am considering/saving to get a 996 in about a year, so am here to learn about it! I've had an RX8 fro 2 years, which is great for what it is, but by no means in the Porsche category. Anyway, can someone tell me how often you need to service the 996? I do about 15k miles per year, so am trying to get an understanding of costs too.
Cheers

You don't say how many miles your car has done. If it's low mileage you don't need a service until 2 years or 12000 miles (applies from MY04 cars, i.e. cars with a 4 or 5 in the 10th character of the VIN).

Having said that, I'd change the oil and filter (I did mine myself, using the correct torque wrench settings!), especially as it'll not have been changed before. There's no point in doing anything else if the car's OK.
