First fast-charge experience and picture

Not sure if the car picture will come out - but I tried!

Thought it might be useful to share my first "Fast-Charge” experience. On my commute to my office is a Shell ReCharge facility with what are advertised as 175kW CCS chargers (x2). In fact they are 150kW, but despite being on a major A road usually seem to be available. So last week I was down to about 25% after a longer trip and not far from this facility so gave it a go. I had previously signed up to the Shell recharge App and they sent me a key-ring fob which links to your debit or credit card. The charger was simplicity itself to use - simple swipe of the fob and it was ready to charge - the main issue was that I had to park at a skewed angle as the cable for the CCS plug really wasn’t very long and was on the right side of the charger - when of course our CCS point is on the left! Reversing in wouldn’t have worked - I tried that as well! Anyway once I’d cack-handedly provided some amusement to folks filling up with oil derivatives the charging experience was pretty good. Initially it charged at 72kW as there was a Polestar on the charger next to me. However he left after around 5 minutes and then it ramped up pretty fast to around 128-130kW - it never achieved the stated 150 though. To get to my general charge profile of 85% took 16 minutes in all and I’d had every intention of going into the Waitrose to get a coffee and some flowers for Mrs T ??, but by the time I’d made two work calls and checked a few emails it was all over and ready to go. Cost was £18. So I was pretty happy - though Mrs T didn’t get her flowers that day!

Cheers Chris
