I thought you might be interested in first impressions of my 991S PDK. I say first impressions as I'm (trying) to keep to 3000rpm for the first 500 miles, although my OPC tell me that this is not necessary.
My wife and I like the colour scheme of Basalt Black with two-tone Agate Grey/Pebble Grey interior. Classic wheels help to set the whole thing off and wheel spaces fill out the wheel arches. PDK (my first time) is brilliant. Bearing in mind my self-imposed rev. limit, I'm using it mostly in fully automatic mode and the gear changes are very smooth. However, throttle response is tardy without using the sport button which transforms the response completely and also activates the sports exhaust. This makes a blood curdling noise and is particularly good on the overrun (even from 3000rpm!). I used the paddle-shift extensively when testing demonstrators and it's brilliant, particularly on down changes. The ride on 20" wheels is remarkably good, unlike any other 911 I've driven and, whilst I've yet to throw it around much, the handling is excellent with very confident turn-in. I can't wait to try a 991 on the Porsche handling track at Silverstone in three weeks time. I have to say I'm not so keen on the electric steering which feels slightly wooden, but it's very direct and if it helps to save the planet - so be it, I suppose! On some previous Porsches we've had upgraded hi-fi's, but having heard the new system we saved the money as we feel it's perfectly adequate. The new touch screen "infotainment" (their word, not mine!) system is good, but the sat-nav still lacks full six digit postcode input. Electric folding mirrors are a worthwhile option (quite reasonable for Porsche at £202) as they operate as soon as the car is locked. As I like to sit with the seat set low, park assist front and rear is also useful. Having seen the new sunshine roof in operation, I wish I'd specified this but you can't have everything. I also wish I'd had a rear screen wiper, but as they still don't have a wash/wipe facility I didn't bother. Overall (apart from a few niggles) I think it's a great car and a huge imporvement over previous models. It's now a highly competent grand-tourer and a great sports car when you need it to be. (Pics to follow).
