First impressions on latest additions

Well I have just driven home from Promax after having the Vitesse MAF plus injectors fitted as well as the fabled 968 Castor mounts (oh and a belt change which wasn't quite so exciting !)

Have to say first impressions of the MAF are very good. The turbo certainly spools up quicker, the engine feels smoother and far more "quick witted" if that makes any sense at all. Not sure about extra BHP but am pretty sure there are at least a few additional horses in the system now (my chances to test this out was limited slightly by traffic plus the fact that my Dad in his oil burning Bora was riding shotgun behind and trying to keep up). Certainly make the engine feel more modern and is a good basis for adding some more fancy bits in the future just on the off chance that I choose to do so. [;)]

The Castor mounts have made a distinct improvement too with a much sharper turn in and a more direct feel to the steering bringing it back closer to how it felt with the original 16" wheels on rather than the current 17".

All in all very pleased that the outlay has yielded significently tangible results and best of all with the sun shining this weekend I will get to test the new bits some more yet. [:)]

Welcome to the Vitesse MAF club [:)] It's an expensive bit of kit but really paves the way for any future upgrades and allows you to run at whatever boost you like and works out the fuelling for you (depending on your injector, fuel pump and engine limits of course [;)] )

I'll tell Davyboy how the old girl has changed since you bought her off him, he was always adamant he wouldn't up the power too much during his time with her.

You can make good use of the APEXI now and do all sorts of clever things like throttle/speed based boost control and having multiple boost profiles. If you have a play with it let me know how it goes.

I'll have to dig out the instruction manual and let you know !

Glad you like it Jon, yet another satisfied customer. The Vitesse kit seems to be like the KWv3 - almost unanimous praise from everyone who has them installed. There are plenty of reports of other mods out there where people are not quite as satisfied or have to spend alot of time and effort setting up and playing about before they are. They may the at the more expensive end of mods available for the 944, but you certainly seem to get what you pay for. I've said a few times now that if there is only one mod you do to your 944 then it should be KWv3. It seems that if you were to only do two then the second should be Vitesse. By far the best two mods out there for the 944 without increasing capacity. Shame I never got it installed to my car before I let her go. Was the next on my list.

Now go on Jon, you know what's coming next once your finances recover. A new turbo!!

Scott, yes its all a question of degrees (and budgets!) I guess but certainly both the KW's and the Vitesse deliver to my mind at least. When my cash flow recovers what I should be looking to do is a front end respray and bodywork tidy up but a new turbo does have a certain appeal ! That said the KW's and Vitesse were bought with making the car as good a "fast road" 951 as possible and hand on heart I am not sure (given the reality of the roads today) that any more power that a new turbo would give would be of any true benefit. If tracking was my focus then it would be a different matter of course. We shall see, though at present I think the current power upgrades are as far as I am seriously considering. Perhaps in time I will look to get another car and use that as a track machine but thats just a pipe dream at present.

The other bi-product of the MAF I noticed was more induction and dump valve noise, whether thats seen as good or not is I guess down to personal preference. [;)]
