I am very new to the Porsche brand and having grown up owning ( I know I'm probably out of order saying this on this group site but here it is ) Ford Escort RS 2000 Mk2s and race preped Escort Mk2 Mexicos back in the 1980s which were so much fun .
But whilst doing my paper round back in 1982 one of my customers took delivery of a 944 and I instantly fell in love ( this was way before the RS escorts that I owned as I never thought I would ever be able to afford a Porsche )
Well in my mid life years after bring up my kids and sorting my financial position I felt lucky enough to be in the position to buy that car I saw as a young paper boy . I have only driven it twice now as the dreaded salt is now on our roads but I can report it is everything and more , cannot wait till the spring where it will be used at least every other weekend and cleaned polished and maintained almost every day . Love my new Porsche

Out of order for mentioning an RS2000?? Not from my point of view!
Well done for achieving your dream Porsche. Now you need to tell us more, and show pictures.
Hopefully the weather will improve soon and you’ll be able to enjoy it more.

I am fortunate enough to still own an RS2000 to keep alongside my Cayman. Guess which one is worth more money these days!

I've lost count of the mk1 and mk2 RS Escorts I owned in the 80's, certainly 10+. Including an X Pack RS2. I also had 5+ V6 Capri's, and later a 3dr Cosworth I kept for 13 years. I'd say the Fords were more fun than a 944. because they were so easy to drive sideways [:)]. And also a lot simpler and cheaper to maintain. I'm not a fast worker, but I could get an engine or gearbox out of the Escorts or Capri's in a couple of hours, try that in a 944. Happy days.

Welcome - i used to see a 944 on my paper round too, then they replaced it with a 944 Turbo, A friends parents had a lodger with a 924GT about the same time. I had a selection of minis (so used to working in tight spaces!) TR7, more minis, astra GTE, Primera eGT before my first 944 - I was not really looking for a Porsche then just rwd and some practicality, became more impressed by Porsche once I owned a 944 - still not much desire for a 911 though except maybe a 964 turbo or a manual GT3, possibly a Gt2 with a manual box - though probably should have had a 996 (GT2) when they were cheap - I almost talked myself into it

Welcome! I also ventured far down the well trodden blue oval bomber route although did manage a C plate 944 lux in between about 15 various RS badged Ford's. Stumbled back into 944 ownership when prices were rock bottom around 2009. Paid the princely sum of £3,750 for my current turbo off a guy called Bob Hope, you couldn't write it! The C plate lux was a shed incidentally........
