Hi Folks,

I became the proud owner of a C4 Cab a couple of weeks ago, courtesy of RSJ Sportscars in Slough and a little help from the bank that likes to say, "New conservatory, sir? Of course you can have the money!", so I thought I'd share my first experience of 911 heaven with a few like minded souls.

It's my first Porsche having sold my old Elise and one of Munich's finest and it's by far the most absorbing car I've ever owned. The Elise was great in it's own go-kart like way but it leaked and tended to run out of steam above 80mph. The words build and quality obviously don't sound great with a Norfolk accent either. That said, it was tremendous fun, particularly round corners. The most obvious difference though is the speed differential. 60mph in the Lotus felt like 100mph, 100mph in the BM felt like 100mph but 100mph in the 911 feels like 60!! I'm grateful for the little chime they've fitted to warn me shortly before my licence disappears.

I may have to invest in a sports exhaust as that tremendous sound doesn't kick in until over about 3000rpm. Touch wood, so far the RMS is fine, as is the engine - although the OPC warranty will be getting applied soon, just in case. Stunning machine, waiting for the summer and roof down fun!

Welcome to the forum, John. Nice car - much better than a conservatory. Take care to ask a different bank if you ever do decide to build one, though!

Be warned - once the hardtop comes off and the hood goes down you'll be addicted. And the human body can develop great tolerance to cold!
