First MOT

Good luck with it. I'm dreading sending mine in for an MOT after it being off the road since around 2000 but at the same time I can't wait to get it on the road. Not sure about the emissions rules but you might be able to find out on the DVLA website.

Make sure the engine is nice and warm before dropping it off, I made the mistake of doing a very short run before leaving with mot station only to fail on emmissions... Edd

This afternoon sees the first MOT under my tenure so fingers crossed. Have checked all the bulbs, tyres are pretty much new and the front wiper blades are fine.

Rear wiper is a bit split at the end but this isn't part of the MOT so saved me panic buying a replacement for now.

Forewarned is forearmed and all that so what do I need to know about emissions, IIRC the test doesn't apply to pre-92 cars, or is that for cat vs non-cat?

Any help or tips would be appreciated, thanks!

There is an emissions test, but it is a much easier one. The required values got lower and lower as the years went by. (To be honest, if it fails the emissions test then there is likely to be something wrong with the way it is running, so it is no bad thing for cars of that age.) Oli.

Woohoo! Got my green slip for the next 13 months. Really great guy doing the testing at a local garage reccommended to me. I got one advisory for a worn rear disc and told me it wasn't far off the fail limit. He also told me it would have probably been a fail elsewhere especially if they were looking for the repair business but as it passed the braking efficiency test he was satisfied that it wasn't dangerous.

I'm picking my fuel lines up from Pirtek on Saturday. Using flexi hoses so I don't need to drop the rear axle as one of the bolts that holds it on is stuck and I can't drop the damn thing anyway.

Sc0tty, Read around - it's been covered on here a number of times before. (Bear in mind that anything less than new Porsche lines, with the axle dropped to accommodate them, will violate your strict rule of no aftermarket parts and no botchery on your car! []) Oli.

Turbo S got hers today, emissions were a bit dodgy, but the tester likes my car so managed to get it through [8|] it was the same last year is it down to 3 Bar FPR and Promax chips ?

ORIGINAL: sc0tty Thats got to be a better way, but how good/longlasting will the connection be between the flexi hoses and the static pipes that run under the car, ie the mating connection?  I thought the porsche lines are one continuous pipe?!
You can use................. Flexible braided pipe (done that on two cars with no issues at all) Flexible pipe (done that for short sections with no issues) Copper/nickel pipe with flex hoses each end (s`wat I`d do as its malleable but ensure you flare/rib the ends for a good seal to the flex hoses using proper clips) Metal pipe with flex hoses each end (flare ends and all as above)
