Months of waiting are nearly over as my Boxster has finally arrived from the port. I have been over to see it at the OPC today (see avatar) and now don't know how I will manage to wait 3 more weeks until my return from holiday. I would like to take this opportuntity to thank eveyone on the forum for their help and opinions esp during the "option selection" process. Despite managing to add £1000 worth on top of my initial spec I am now pleased I will have the car I want and am not going to worry about the depreciation for a few years.

Only have to sort the insurance/tracker conundrum (Porsche's strict policy over VTS is causing me a real headache), draw the cash and read the various handover threads before I can enjoy my first summer of top down motoring.

I can't wait [:)]

What is the price for the VTS and what are Tracker, RAC, etc charging nowadays for their tracker and installation?

I have not seen a Porsche price yet ... however here are the latest prices for the rest

The PVTS is £1,160 including fitting, VAT & 1 years subscription. This was quoted from Reading OPC. I am having one fitted to my new Boxster (due in April) - to keep the insurance premium down!

Almost there.....ready! Hope it fits! Looks a tad narrow to me, but having measured it should just squeeze in.

Good job Harry. I wish my garage was that empty !!

I must get around to clearing space in the garden, buying a shed and clearing the garage for the Boxster.

Paul

Errr... well it wasn't (at all empty), lots of trips to the local tip - which was fun.[&:]

Are you going to go for the tracker? In the end we went for Porsche insurance (no tracker reqd) which was around £150 more than direct line (tracker reqd), but I didn't want the car messed with fitting a tracker or VTS + agree with other posts - if it gets nicked then don't particularly want to see it again

Harry

My current insurer whom I have been with for 20 years is insisting on a Tracker but, like you, I am not keen. I am now waiting for A-plan to back to me after they have spoken to some other insurers that they don't think require a tracker. I have the added complication of now wanting to insure two vehicles which is why I really need the services of a broker.

I have been told that Porsche Insurance may start asking for VTS as a way of encouraging take up.

Paul

Try Norwich Union,
As long as you have maximum no claims they are very reasonable.

They wanted £6 more if I "HAD" a traker fitted???? Strange to say the least....
It is a 95 reg 993 though and not a modern car.

Try Adrian Flux they go thru Equity Red Star Very competitive.no Tracker
They have ads in the P.Post

Hmmm... Have experience of Equity Red Star through my business. Cheap - just hope you don't need to make a claim - then USELESS!

Mine is in the compound but I am on holiday from next Wed so will pick it up on my return the following week.

Have you got a long route planned for the drive home?

I hope the weather doesn't spoil the big day.

Paul

Thanks Paul. We are planning a trip around the Cotswolds, then on Sunday maybe have drive out to the England / Wales border roads West of Ludlow. Hopefully later in the year we want to take the ferry to Bilbao and drive back through Spain & France. I'll post some photos on Saturday.

Harry

Cotswolds should be great although I am biased as I live here. So many great roads to choose. Watch out for the safety vans !!

Have a good weekend.

Paul

Glad to see it fits. You have inspied me to get the garage cleared !!

Handover go smoothly? Sounds like you have fun in the Cotswolds?

Paul

Yes handover went well. There were some scratches / marks on the front bumper (nothing too serious) which they T-Cut out there and then with no problems. Done 200 miles today, only about 20 with the roof down though cos' it was bloomin cold. All in all a beautiful day for driving around a great part of the country - the cars filthy now though! Got a free bottle of champers as well - which was nice.
