First Porsche

Hi and welcome

My choice would be the S model and in manual. However what your preferences are may well be different dependant on how much and where you intend to use the car. My advice would be to take your time - no rush you have a few months before the prices starting rising in readiness for the summer. Drive the full range. When you find one you like enought to think you would like to own get a PPI - well worth the money if only for peace of mind.

Good luck with the search and enjoy it - its the first step of ownership.

If you can find one that you like within the OPC Network, then go for it. At your price point you might prefer to look at independents, so get an expert inspection. The money spent is well worthwhile for peace of mind. It really depends on what age/spec you want for your money.

When you have bought the car, don't forget to join PCGB. There's much more going on than just the forum.

Good evening, I am considering buying a Boxster 987 and I have a budget of 13k any advice would be welcome, thanks

You'd be fairly hard pushed to get a 987 for £13k - would have to be very long legged and certainly not from an OPC. Try PistonHeads:

Its possible for 13k and yes you should get the S if performance is your criteria, my 2005 987s with full service history and only 42K miles was purchased 10 months ago for not a lot more than you want to in a private sale and it has all the options I wanted

You won't find a car for that money in the Porsche dealer network, and as the link posted by Chris PH's has quite a few 2.7 at that money with many reputable dealers.

When I was looking I would always check Finlay Gorham web site, they just seemed a reasonable price and they had / have a good reputation. ( no kin or friendship & I never purchased a car from them )

You need to rember nothing more than history and condition when looking, many Boxsters started their lives as second or weekend cars, and quite frankly stamps in the service log only every two years scare me, but that's just my opinion as I'm sure there are many cars owned on this forum with that kind of history that are in excellent mechanical fettle.

Try an internet trawl for companies who will carryout an inspection for you if you are worried and if you are not it's still a good idea.

Now everyone on here knows that your next question will be " what options should I look for " [:D]

Best of luck and you have come to the right place.
