First post/Distributor cap

Hi guys. First post on here. Hope you are all well.
So I went to my local motor factors to pick up a new distributor cap for my 2.7 Lux. The cap they came out with is different to the one that is fitted. Their computer claims the one that is fitted is for a 2.5.
Does this sound right? Have I bought a lemon?
Cheers,
Stuart

It has the black cover. The layout is totally different. Top pic is what I have fitted, bottom pic is what local motor factors has on his computer for 2.7.
Have I been sold a 2.7 with a 2.5 engine?

Thanks edh. That does put my mind at rest. Incidentally, they were both the same price at the motor factors I used.

I tried the Volvo part & it didn't work for me - the rotor arm clipped the terminals. Gsf sent me 3, all the same.

Haven't tried it on my new engine.

Volvo part worked fine for me. But it still isn't hugely cheap (£20 or so compared with £40 for the real thing, a few years ago).

Are you sure you have the right part Ed?

Oli.

Sort of related,, Paul M mentioned in the faq's that the volvo distributor cap fits the 16v 944S, but spotted that EDH above posted that the rota
clipped the electrode post using the volvo part, sort of suggested you need the matching rota too...is this right.
