Out in my Porsche yesterday first real drive so much different to my 911 carrera 3.2 but that was expected performance not disappointing handling and breaks really good one or two little niggles which i,m sure Mark will help me sought out next job belts etc. for my piece of mind decided on Promax in the end going next week
Bob

I drove my turbo down to Le Mans and then a 3.2 a few seasons later. I must say the 944 felt so much more composed and modern in comparison. Yes, you have the grunt and noise on the boxer engine, but 'on turbo' the 944 is hard to beat and with any cars of that era. The biggest improvement gains are to get the brakes sorted, suspension refresh including bushings, good tyres and 4 wheel alignment. You will not regret.

The depth of the 944's ability gradually becomes very evident the more you drive them. Am sure you will enjoy the ownership experience more and more as time goes on but that sounds like a good start.

Good call taking the car to Promax.

Thought while it was there get them to remove cat and use one of there chips worthwhile or not whats the net gain maybe a start to 375bhp would like to see the spec of that

Hi, new to this so forgive me if you've heard this before.....I have a '91 944S2, same colour Cobalt Blue 88K, not had her long but she is well looked after. Anyway, I had her Terracleaned yesterday, a process I'd heard of but never tried, slightly sceptical but for £126 I thought it worth a go. It basically cleans the internals of the fuel and combustion system, takes about an hour and can be done on your drive. WOW, talk about immediate impact, I thought the engine was strong if a little gruff (daily driver is the latest BMW M3 and I also have a super sweet 986 S so my datum was set high), but I made allowances for age etc. I shouldn't have because following the procedure the engine is transformed (I've become quite evangelical!).....the first thing you notice is how much quieter the engine is, then taking her for a test drive it felt as if 50kg had been stripped from the car and the engine blueprinted. Spins to the redline without hesitation and the mid range just feels 'polished'. Sorry if I've rambled a bit but as a cheap 'base' start on fettling your car, it's well worth the investment. PS, looking at the Promax myself.....let me know if it is any good. T

Apologies, just caught your other thread with the delivery pics on......not Cobalt........stunning colour though and car looks superb, good find. T

I had wondered about the Terraclean process as to whether it was effective or just automotive snake oil.

Your experience does sound a good one, has anyone else tried it and if so what were your findings good or bad ?

I would think its a very subjective thing, 88K and a good clean possibly does wonders, 150K with wear and such would the effect be as noticeable.

well Edd China thinks its as good as ??????, others think its as much use as an Amish Electrician.

its all out there in the forums to read, and you can rely on those

This car felt very good to drive, it feels alive and happy to rev. When you come off the clutch, any more than just a little poke and the rear wheels light up.. It really wouldn't surprise me Bob if you found a Promax chip is fitted already as it certainly feels this way. A lot of them are a little stuffy, but they should actually behave like a little puppy dog with its tongue hanging out, tail wagging happy to see you.. and your car has that element of "fun" about the way it drives. The head may actually have been skimmed too which can increase compression and add to the driving charateristics also and it certainly does look like there a shiny new worked head on there.

Delighted to hear Promax see it as a good car too.

I must say how pleased i am with the service i am receiving from Promax on par with the service i received from Mark at The Modern Classic car co. they have given a daily report on the work they are doing for me . I have to agree with Mark the car goes very well and i must admit i was a bit concerned that after owning two 3.2 Carreras there would be a big power difference but i have been really surprised by the performance (it was not chipped by the way) next job fit a nice period Blaupunkt (when i can find one)
