First run out

Car taxed again [:D]

First run out yesterday evening, felt great. Everything is so positive after the Polo [;)].

Quick run through Caton and back to Lancaster, kept it nice and steady to bed the brakes and anything else that needs it. Going to get addicted to this. Only managed 500 miles before putting it to bed last year but can see the mileage climbin steeply this year.

Bet they go and throw salt down this weekend [>:]

Out again last night and starting to get used to it.

Suprised by the large amount of detailed feedback from the steering and its starting to feel lighter as my arms get used to it.

Bit of a rattle though at idle, vanishes when the clutch is depressed. Maybe a release bearing ?, or input shaft bearing ?.

Not loud and drives fine, gears select easily. Is this unusual or am I used to 20 years of development isolating me from the hardware.

i noticed the same noise when i bought my 3.2 five years ago and asked JZ Machtech for advice, they told me this was correct and to worry when it stops!

Think they said release bearing but i am not 100%.

So assuming we are talking about the same noise - relax and go enjoy

Cheers for that,

Apparently, according to the previous owner, its made the same noise for the last 17 years [8D]

And enjoying it I am, Amazing car to drive.

My release bearing collapsed a couple of years ago in the middle of Reading at rush hour. Sweet! New clutch fitted by Ray Northway (decent collection of cars and bikes to gawp at while I was waiting for the road test to be done) and I have a slight rattle at idle, so hope it is all part of the natural charm of these very addictive cars.
Happy motoring!
