First service

My Cayenne S Diesel has done only 5500 miles and the car says an oil service is due after 18 months from new. Yet the manual and adverts state 20,000 miles or 2 years before the first service is due.

Anyone else experienced a similar early message in their Cayenne? If the adverts said UP to 20,000 miles or 2 years I would not complain but they do not.

Hi John, the oil change is different from the 1st service. Porsche logic...

I had my oil changed at 16,000 miles a few months ago and the 1st service is booked for next week, it'll be around 20,000 miles when that happens. Personally I'd sooner have the oil changed earlier than what Porsche say but they're the experts.

FWIW, I'd sooner have the oil changed sooner at say 10,000 miles or every year. But then I'm not likely to keep the car that long in it's life so I stick to the letter of Porsche law...

Hi Mike, Thanks for the quick reply. I had hoped the oil change notice was referring to the first service and it was just a reminder you could re-set yourself. I checked again and it is as you mentioned, so a trip to the dealer has been booked.

My problem is a trip to the dealer involves 40 hours away from home and costing over £300 just to get there, the joys of living in a remote area. I am now thinking about changing the Cayenne which I love for a Macan S Diesel, not that this will make future oil changes any cheaper just reduces the overall costs.

John

Yeah IIRC the oil change was about the £300 region too, so a fairly expensive couple of days for you. The fun of having premium motors I guess.

I'll be in Aberdeen OPC on Thursday 21st for the 1st service, so lets see what else they find then.

Not much point in me bringing down a tyre off my Cayenne S diesel for you then[:D]

Pity as it has about 6mm of tread and is free of charge, Michelin by the way.

No I doubt it would've stretched to fit. Shame as as an Aberdonian I'm always on the lookout for a freebie! [;)]
