First world problem - heater temp

Dear Al

I'm currently using the 951 for commuting on a daily basis and trying to fix a number of small niggles (done the windscreen wipers & vision).

It sounds petty but...... The heating system works well and the car gets good water temp quickly - if I hit the demist button, piping hot air to face or windscreen.

However.... the hot air from the 'standard' temp controlled blowers starts very hot then becomes 'warm'. In contrast the BMW will keep my feet toasty throughout the journey.

So my thinking is its caused by the temp sensor mounted in the dash that suck air from the cabin into a sensor then modulates the temp in 'auto' mode ?

Does anyone have knowledge or experience of this ?

I'm thinking a simple fix might be to unplug this temp sensor and air pump (very small encased fan). I'm just about to start trawling through the electrical diagrams, any advice or suggestions most welcome.

Almost certainly one or all 3 temp sensors shot Chris. I resoldered new thermistors from RS onto my existing connectors. New ones are ridiculous as usual for what they are. New thermistors from RS are pence. A symptom is no heat then everything all in one go rather than being progressive and altering itself as required. I can talk you through changing them if you want.

Any chance you could post this info? Mine is a bit up and down and I'd like to get it sorted as I'm not too shabby with a soldering iron (well....I'm game for giving it a good go!).

I will try and dig out the info. Was about 3 or 4 years ago now I did them. Think I posted at the time?

Afternoon All

thanks very much to Rob for providing the original link and then searching the forum to find the thread.

I've now got 10 of said thermistors, if anyone needs any for a similar job over the winter, just PM me and I'll send them over.
