While I appreciate this is a bit short notice but with another good weekend of weather forecast, I have being looking at a few ideas and stumbled across the Fishburn Wings & Wheels two day event, Fishburn Airfield DL17 9DY. Some of us attended this a few years ago and it was a fun filled cracking day out. Once again it promises classic cars, planes, live music, street food, re-enactments, restaurant and bar as well as arts and craft stalls so hopefully something for everyone.

I’ve taken the liberty of contacting the organiser today to ask if they would allow us to have a small PCGB display and despite it being very late notice, they’re happy to give us space for around 12 cars on Sunday. Of course you are free to attend either day over the weekend and as a visitor you can just turn up and park in the main car park should you wish to pop along without making any commitments.

Regardless if your showing or not the price is a very reasonable £3.00 per car with a voluntary suggested entry fee of a further £2.00 pp, which still seems pretty good value.

Obviously spaces for our display will be allocated on a first come first served but please note if you wish to reserve a slot you must be able to commit to being there no later than 11am until 4pm on the Sunday only. The show opens at 12 o’clock and the live music starts from 1pm and expected to finish around 8pm so don't forget your own supplies, picnics and chairs.

If anyone is interested in joining Deb & I please let me know ASAP so I can let the organisers know that we have enough interest to attend as a Club.

Hi Greg. I expect to get along to this, although I won't be able to beat the display curfew! Attended a few years back and it was a good show.

Hi Greg

Is this event going ahead please

Apologies in Spain so missed any discussions at the monthly meeting

Hi Aaron, unfortunately with so many members already away on the R3 WOTY (weekend of the year) and such a poor uptake for this event there’s not much point in organising an R3 display.

However a couple of us are still planning on going on Sunday and just parking up in the visitors car park, so we won't be taking the gazebo and flags etc. Therefore should you or anyone else still decide to pop along, please note there is no longer any requirement to turn up early.

Evening Aaron, as members going on the WOTY had to book well in advance of this weekend, the Fishurn idea was simply an additional idea for the R3 members who didn't want to or could'nt go to Wales for one reason or another, therefore I doubt the clash really had anything to do with the lack of support. Maybe a lot of members simply weren't interested due to the late notice (fair enough) or more worringly some have missed it as they don't keep up to speed with the forum these days.

Either way it's not really a problem, it was merely a suggestion that was logistically central of the region that I thought may be of interest on this unforeseen and unexpected bank holiday weekend. Nevertheless, Deb & I and a couple of others will still be milling around so hopefully see you there.
