Fitting 993 mirrors

Wow - if it's really that complex I'm not surprised the OPC charges so much to fit!!

I guess it depends if they are assembled or not - but I removed and refitted mine in minutes (and very small number of minutes)

You need a set of hex keys that have a "round" end (so you have some flex in what angle you have the key at).

All you need to do (assuming they are assembled) is:

Connect up the electrics (plug in - I hope your thief had decency not to cut the wires)
Bend the top edge of the door hole back to normal door shape (if mirrors removed by violent means)
Hook bottom edge of mirror base onto lower edge of hole in door
Tip the mirror up so that the "screwed" hook is now inside the hole
Screw up the hex nut (normally hidden by a plastic grommet) until it is tight enough that the mirror does not move around (but not so tight as to bend the panel around the hole in the door) - I found the hook just spun around inside the hole - so before tipping mirror in place adjust the hook screw so it only just fits (with a nudge) through the hole - then it can't spin and just tightens.
Put in the grommet (with some glue - that's what I did)
Job done

Hope this helps
Mark

I used the same method that Mark suggests when I replaced the mirror gaskets recently it does only takes a few minutes. Its easier if you can gat an assistant to hold the mirror in place. I hadn't thought of glue for the sealing grommet, good idea and added to the list of jobs to be done.
