Fitting a hardtop - C4S cabrio

Hi

After I bought my C4S the owner fitted the hardtop for me to take away. The rattles and squeaks were so bad it was a real shock. Is this normal as I may fit the top again for the next couple of months?

Thanks

There is some noise associated with the hard tops, but not excessive.

My last C4 was definitely noisier than this C4S.

But i don't know of anyone who has a totally 'noiseless' hard top. I'm sure someone on here will be able to advise on ways to limit the noise and i seem to remember seeing a thread on this before?

My '99 C4 hardtop also has a few little groans and odd noises, but not bad enough to be really annoying or warrant removing it and trying to re-fit. I think it comes with the territory. If it was a premenant fixture, then maybe worth really sorting, but as it's only for a few months(?) I can put up with it.

Rub silicone spray around all the rubber seals with a cloth. That should help, if not cure the situation.
Although you will always hear some creaking due to body flex
