Fitting a new windscreen washer nozzle

Hello,

I'd be grateful for some technical assistance please. I recently purchased a new washer nozzle for my 2001 996 turbo as I thought I'd have a go at some relatively straight forward jobs that need doing. I know there is no such thing as "straight forward" in any DIY job but I've got to start somewhere.

My issue is that the heater electrical connection on the new nozzle is round, whereas there is a square plug into the car's electrics and everyone knows round and square don't mix (photo attached new on the left and old on the right). My bright idea is to remove the square bit from the old nozzle and replace the round connector on the new nozzle. This sounds simple.

My questions are;

1) does it matter which way round the two wire go into the plug? On the nozzle both are black which might suggest that it doesn't matter.

2) I have 5amp and 15amp cable lock connectors. Which should I use for this transplant?

3) anything else I should be aware of?

I've tried to find articles online/youtube but no luck so any help would be much appreciated.

The fall back of course is that the passenger side nozzle simply works but is unheated which will be a step in the right direction.

A long time ago, but I cut the plugs off both nozzles, and fitted the old plug to the new nozzle using some bullet connectors. I seem to recall Porsche do a conversion cable, which was an arm and a leg.

Thanks Richard. I've connected the new nozzle to the old heater connector and all seems well, it even heats up once the ignition is on. Success. Polishing the n/f headlight is the next job.
