2 days - 2 posts!! I've got a sports exhaust to fit on my 997 C2S. Took a look at the job this afternoon and found a couple of problems:
1. The nuts/bolts on the sleeves which connect the back box to the cat pipe are badly corroded - not a problem I can grind those off but I'm surprised about use of low quality items. Other exhaust nuts/studs/bolts are in the same very poor condition.
2. More problematic is the fact the vertical bolts which run through the 2 x mountings on each silencer have been inserted from above and in-situ there is bodywork directly above the bolt heads. In other words, I've removed the nuts but I cant lift the bolts clear to enable back box removal. I can cut the heads off the front mounting bolts but I cant reach the rear ones with removing the rear PU.
Anyone found a way to overcome the challenge.
PS: the mountings do appear to be part of a plate bolted to the engine casing but the nuts retaining these plates at the bottom are also badly corroded?
Thanks - Adrian
